Cho Byung-hyun (23), who has become a special finishing touch for the SSG Landers, has set a firm goal. After establishing himself as the perfect closing pitcher of the league in the new season, he is dreaming of meeting Shohei Ohtani (31) of the Los Angeles Dodgers with the national flag once again.먹튀검증
Cho Byung-hyun revealed his goals for this season in an interview after finishing his personal training at SSG Landers Field in Incheon on the 7th.
Cho Byung-hyun, who joined SK (SSG) as the 28th member of the second round of the 2021 third round and returned from his mandatory military service in the Armed Forces Sports Unit (Sangmu), played 73 innings in 76 games in the bullpen last year, playing 4 wins, 6 losses, 12 saves, 12 holds, and an ERA of 3.58. The WHIP allowed only 1.14 on-base hits per inning, the hit rate was 0.197, and the strikeout rate was 96.
"I thought I could do it, but it's a shame that ERA is a little high," Cho said. "I think it was because I gave up a walk, got a hit, and had a lot of runners on the ground and hit a home run. If I hadn't hit a home run, ERA would have fallen."
No one is disappointed, however, with Young-gun's performance in his first full-time season. The club felt the same way. Cho signed his contract at 135 million won, a whopping 350 percent jump from his lowest salary of 30 million won last year. This is the club's highest rate of increase.
Cho Byung-hyun said, "I'm satisfied. The club gave me a good amount of money. I think I'm motivated, and I'm going to prepare well so that I can get a better salary next year."
Finishing feels like a vocation. He suddenly assumed the role of closing pitcher during the season, but he pitched his ball silently. "I tried to strike out because there was no one behind me at the end, so I think I did well."
He has no worries about his jinx in his second year. "No matter how prepared the opponent team is, I don't think I can throw it with confidence," he said. "I'm going to prepare well so that I can have more confidence. I'm going to continue to adjust my breaking ball including fork ball control, and I'm also going to weigh a lot to boost my fastball power. The same goes for batter analysis."
He has set a big target. Considering his last-minute momentum last year, he seems to be able to achieve the goal. "I set my next year's goal to have 30 saves and I have written all the detailed figures," Cho said. "I have set all of my goals to achieve a better result than this year. I will also set a goal of 100 strikeouts."
Cho may be slightly swayed by opponent analysis and changing ABS. However, he is committed to going his own way without being swayed. "In the beginning of last season, (Roh) Kyung-eun said, 'No matter how high your ERA is up to 40 games or 40 innings, it's okay. Don't worry about it because it's your ERA after 40 games," he said. "No matter how high your ERA is in the beginning, I don't think you'll care too much."
The Premier 12 of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), which was participating after the season, has become another stimulus. Now, he is aiming for another goal. He is aiming to achieve the goal as close as possible to his goal and to put on the national flag at the World Baseball Classic in March next year.
"When it comes to professional baseball players, I think they should aim for the national team and play. I think it's a bonus if they do well this season," Cho said. "I want to play against everything, but I want to play against Otani. I wonder if my fastball will be an opponent, and I want to play against him."
